Ch. Triumphant's Saviour Machine

Bowie finished! :)

He actually got his last major in August, but I wanted to wait until I had the photos before I posted a full update. A lot has happened since then!

Bowie finished with a bang. I traveled with my mentor to the North Jersey and Del-Val brittany Specialties. What a great weekend! Not only did Bowie do well, but I met so many incredible people. The specialty took place at a field trial clubhouse and the weekend included lots of great food, cookouts, and many stories.

On Saturday we had a great start with a Best in Sweeps under Andrea Lane (of Jordean Kennels). She had nothing but good things to say about him! Then Bowie took Winners Dog and Best of Winners for his final major. I could barely keep from jumping up in the air!

Sunday Bowie continued by winning another Best in Sweeps! We moved him up to Best of Breed to compete against the big dogs, and I couldn't be happier with what happened. Since we were the move up, we were placed first in a long line of great Brittanys. Our judge, Richard Fox, was great with the dogs and kept a small notebook to write notes in... He took his time with each dog. The weather was rainy and cold- but Bowie thrived in it! He was totally "on" - going right to the end of his lead. I had a hard time keeping up! Bowie was pulled for the final cut. At the end of it all, his father, Ch. Triumphan'ts Absolut' went Best In Specialty, and Bowie, at only 1 year 7 months, went first Award of Merit to his father, beating some top dogs behind him! Wow, what a win. I was smiling from ear to ear.

Also, we have a new addition to the family: Indigo! AKA Triumphant's Indi-Go for Gold

Awwww :)

So Close, Yet So Far!

At the Lakes Region Kennel Club Bowie won his first major under judge Frank Washbaugh! :-) There was some pretty stiff competition in the class dogs, a lot of Bowie's half-brothers! Now he has 12 points in total, plus one major- Almost there!

Pointed Out

These past few weekends have been such a blur! It seems only yesterday Bowie got his first point, and now he's all pointed out with 9. Now all that's left are the elusive majors, and thankfully, I'm traveling with his breeder (my mentor) to a few specialties this summer. I'm really hoping he'll earn his championship by the end of the summer. MMmm.... time to start eating entries! All that money tastes delicious :-)

Tomorrow is the Lakes Region Kennel CLub show, which includes a two-day brittany specialty. I'm going to scrub every speck of dirt out of Bowie's coat! Here's hoping for nice weather, because we all know the North East hasn't been seeing much of it lately.

Here's a canid of Bowie asleep on the way home from the Penobscot Kennel Club:

We're Pointed!

It's official, Bowie is on his way to his championship! We went Winners Dog at Topsfield (Nothshore/Middlesex Country Club) and we went BOB today! Bowie was the only male entered, so I'm glad we got the carry-over points from the bitches. If only one more was there, we would have had a major! Everyone at Maine was really nice and supportive, I met a lot of really nice people! Including Karen, who was stewarding our ring- It was very nice to meet you! The show site for the Penobscot KC was nice and small, but our ring, I thought, was a bit *too* tiny... especially for all those Golden Retrievers! But Bowie was great he spent the day sleeping on the bleachers.

The Counts Are In!

Our first week of showing went well! The most important thing was for Bowie to be happy and relaxed, which he was! He transitioned well to traveling in a crate and chilled out during down time. He adjusted excellently. No Points for us, though. The first day of showing he was everywhere and not focused at all. The second day went much better. The key is to give him a nice walk before the ring!

Here are the counts for our upcoming shows:

North Shore Kennel Club, Friday: 1-0(1-0)0
(Just Bowie and his older brother, Lucas competing!)
North Shore Kennel Club, Saturday: 3-0(1-0)0
Middlesex County Kennel Club, Sunday: 3-1(2-0)0
Penobscot Valley Kennel Club, Saturday: 1-5(0-0)0

The Maine show's counts make me laugh... At least we'll get OS by default at the very least! And perhaps we'll pick up some points on the way :) Here's hoping!

I also picked up three new suits and some new grooming equipment! Sooo excited! Too bad I have to work this weekend... bleh

About Time for Another Update!

Hey! It has been a while since my last update on this blog, and I'm going to try to keep my posts more frequent. Bowie's entered in two upcoming shows, and I'm wicked excited! We've been attending conformation class, but as a young dog, Bowie has an attention span of a gnat and his eyes start glazing over after half an hour of class. Its hard to stand there for an hour! We also began an intro to agility class. Fearless and goofy, he seems to be taking well to it and he's starting to understand the "rules" of the game. Hopefully, the future classes will go well! The two shows have a small entry of 3-4 class dogs, one class bitch and no specials. Perfect for a first show!

Now to buy a suit.... hmm...

Serious dog is serious!

Summer is Upon Us...

I am so nervous, summer is upon us and its time to get Bowie out into the ring to try and earn some points. I return from college in 19 days, and will start some intensive conformation practice... I am so nervous! I think he's wonderful, but what if he just doesn't match up to the quality of the other dogs? I suppose I just need more faith.

Happy dog!
